Freshman Kristen McCarthy scored a career-high 15 points last night as Temple beat Ball State, 78-73, in Muncie, Ind.

Shenita Landry led Temple with 16 points before fouling out in the final minute. Shanea Cotton had 12 points and seven rebounds, while Shaqwedia Wallace posted 10 points and six boards.

Emily Maggert scored 22 points to lead the Cardinals.

Both teams are 6-4.

Delaware 52, Villanova 49 -

Senior forward Laura Kurz, a Germantown Academy product, led all scorers with 19 points, but the Wildcats fell to the Blue Hens at the Pavilion.

The Wildcats (6-4) shot 32.8 percent (19 of 58) from the field but nearly rallied from a nine-point deficit in the last two minutes.

Ariene Jenkins had 15 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Blue Hens (6-3). Tesia Harris had 12 points, nine rebounds and three steals.

Richmond 73, Drexel 60 -

Drexel saw an eight-point lead vanish early in the second half as Richmond (10-1) used 30 points from Brittani Shells to beat the Dragons in a nonconference game at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.

Gabriela Marginean led Drexel (4-5) with 28 points. Kamile Nacickaite chipped in 14 point and a game-high nine rebounds in her first career start. Jasmina Rosseel added 12 points.

Seton Hall 74, St. Joseph's 67 -

The Pirates rallied from a 14-point deficit in the second half to defeat the Hawks in overtime. Seton Hall has now won five straight games.

St. Joseph's led by 52-38 at one point. Mariame Djouara paced the Hawks (5-6) with 21 points.

At 9-1, the Pirates are off to their best start since the 1994-95 squad started the year at 11-1.
