Memphis is facing possible sanctions as a result of charges that center on the validity of the SAT score that was turned in by a freshman on the 2007-08 Tigers' squad, and also free travel to road games for the player's friend.
Under coach John Calipari, who this spring took over the program at Kentucky, Memphis established an NCAA record for wins in a season that year by finishing 38-2. The Tigers suffered an overtime loss to Kansas in the '08 national championship game.
"I got a call from a couple of calls from my teammates, and they were just disappointed about maybe losing their record," Evans said. "I don't know the situation that went down, but I hope it's nothing serious." - Kevin Tatum
