The eight runs were the most allowed by the Thunder in one inning this season.
Trenton lost its first series since dropping a three-game series to Akron on May 19-21. The Thunder lost back-to-back games for the first time since May 17 at Binghamton.
Portland broke a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning on a solo homer by centerfielder Bubba Bell off Thunder reliever Alan Horne (0-3).
