Little Mill's Mike Hyland was the only player to finish two rounds under par at Stonewall yesterday, capturing medalist honors in the qualifying round of the Golf Association of Philadelphia's 109th Amateur Championship.

Hyland, who won the title in 2000, carded a par 70 on the Old Course and added a 1-under 69, despite a triple-bogey 7 on the first hole, on the North Course for a 36-hole total of 139.

The top 36 players in the field of 125 top amateurs advance to today's match-play competition. The tournament continues tomorrow and will conclude with a 36-hole final on Saturday.
