Agent Jim Steiner said yesterday evening that no contentious issues have arisen in talks with the Eagles over a contract for first-round draft choice Jeremy Maclin.

"We've talked, and talks should intensify over the next 72 hours, certainly," Steiner said.

Maclin, drafted 19th overall, is due to report to Lehigh for training camp with other Eagles rookies Sunday afternoon. Steiner said the fact that the players selected right around Maclin haven't signed yet won't keep him from reaching agreement on a pact for the wideout from Missouri, who was projected to go much higher than he was taken.

More than a month ago, a source close to Maclin told the Daily News that Maclin chose Steiner and partner Ben Dogra at least partly because Maclin feels they understand it's important for rookies not to miss training camp time - they don't have a history of keeping draftees out of camp.

Maclin is the lone 2009 Eagles draftee without a contract.
