Villanova senior guard Reggie Redding, charged in July with possessing a small amount of marijuana, was accepted yesterday into a program for first-time nonviolent offenders.
Redding, 21, was ordered by Delaware County Judge Barry Dozer to serve 16 hours of community service and pay court costs. He was arrested by Radnor police after campus security found marijuana and drug paraphernalia in his car. The paraphernalia charge was later dropped.
If Redding successfully completes the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition (ARD) program, he can have his criminal record expunged.
Redding was suspended from the team for a semester but is expected to return for the eighth-ranked Wildcats (9-1) in Saturday's game against Fordham at the Meadowlands.
