ORLANDO - Dwight Howard had 12 points, 20 rebounds, and 4 blocks to help the Orlando Magic rally past the Portland Trail Blazers, 92-83, last night.

Rashard Lewis added 15 points, Jason Williams 13, and J.J. Redick 12 for Orlando, which overcame a sluggish first half while Portland shot just 34 percent after halftime.

Brandon Roy scored 33 points and Andre Miller 16 for Trail Blazers, who were outrebounded, 54-35. It was Howard's 35th career game with 20 or more rebounds.

Roy's 15-foot jumper tied the score at 76 with 6 minutes, 53 seconds left before Orlando went on an 11-0 run in the next three minutes. Roy stopped the streak with a pair of free throws, but the Blazers had only two field goals in the final seven minutes and shot just 5 of 18 in the fourth quarter.

The Magic had their own struggles in the first half, committing 11 turnovers and shooting just 34 percent. Williams hit 4 of 5 shots, including a pair of three-pointers, but the rest of the backcourt was 3 of 21, including Vince Carter's 1 for 11.

Help may be on the way. Orlando point guard Jameer Nelson, out for the last month with an injured left knee, worked out with the team yesterday. The former St. Joseph's star will practice today and could return Wednesday against Houston.
