Independence goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc, who has had two strong outings in the team's first two Women's Professional Soccer league matches, won't be available for Sunday's game against the visiting Washington Freedom because of a national team commitment.

LeBlanc will be competing for Canada in a friendly against host China on Saturday.

Val Henderson, who had a strong preseason, according to coach Paul Riley, will start in goal for the Independence.

Riley also said defender Heather Mitts may not play as she recovers from a quadriceps/hip injury. Mitts played 45 minutes in last week's 1-1 tie at Boston.

Riley added that Joanna Lohman will start at midfield, replacing Jen Buczkowski, who must sit out the game after receiving a red card for two yellow cards last week.

The Independence are 0-0-2, and Washington is 1-1. Game time Sunday will be 6 p.m., at West Chester University.
