Here are the other boys who were in the running for senior male athlete of the year.

Phil Bhaya, Haddonfield. Bhaya led Haddonfield to a school-record 10 victories as a quarterback and defensive back in football. He was all-South Jersey as a defensive back after recording 55 tackles and two interceptions. As a quarterback, he passed for 1,201 yards and 13 touchdowns and ran for 710 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was all-South Jersey as a midfielder in lacrosse and led South Jersey in goals with 64. He plans to attend Princeton and play football.

Zach Greenwald, Paulsboro. Greenwald was a second-team all-South Jersey linebacker in football. He recorded 113 tackles and also rushed for 458 yards and eight TDs as a fullback. He won the 215-pound state title in wrestling with a 41-1 record and led Paulsboro to the Group 1 state team title as well as the No. 1 ranking in South Jersey. He plans to attend Sacred Heart and play football.

Tejay Johnson, Egg Harbor Township. Johnson was an all-South Jersey defensive back in football. He had five interceptions and also rushed for 973 yards and 10 touchdowns for a team that went 11-1 and reached the South Jersey Group 4 final. He was a double-figure scorer in basketball. He won the South Jersey Group 4 title in the 100 and 200 meters in track and was a member of the victorious 1,600-meter relay team. He will attend Rutgers on a football scholarship.

Jared Roberts, Woodbury. Roberts was a running back and defensive back for Woodbury's South Jersey Group 1 championship football team. He was a star guard for Woodbury's South Jersey Group 1 championship basketball team. He was a multi-event standout for Woodbury's state Group 1 championship track team, placing second in the triple jump and long jump, and third in the high jump. He will attend the Naval Academy and play basketball.
