West Catholic and La Salle will play for state football championships today at Hershey.
West Catholic will play South Fayette in Class AA and La Salle will attempt to defend its Class AAAA title against North Allegheny. La Salle defeated State College, 24-7, in a driving snowstorm to win the state championship last year.
There were two state title games yesterday at Hershey.
In Class A, Clairton (16-0) rallied from a 24-0 deficit to complete a perfect season with a 36-30 win over Riverside (14-2), its second straight state title and 31st consecutive victory.
The Bears trailed, 24-20, at halftime, but quarterback Desimon Green and Tyler Boyd connected on an 82-yard touchdown pass at the start of the third quarter, and Trenton Coles ran 3 yards for another TD later in the quarter to clinch the championship.
In the AAA championship game last night, Allentown Central Catholic (16-0) rallied with an 18-yard TD run by quarterback Brendan Nosovitch, his third TD of the game, with 2:09 to play to hold off Harrisburg's Bishop McDevitt (13-3), 28-27.
