South Jersey Athletes to Watch at Penn Relays



Anthony Averett, Woodbury, junior. This Alabama-bound football star unleashed a long jump of 25 feet, 21/2 inches at the Woodbury Relays.

Braheme Days, Bridgeton, junior. He had the best shot put in the nation indoors, 70 feet, 8 inches.

Darrell Bush, Woodbury, senior. This LSU-bound athlete ran 46.95 seconds in the Meet of Champions 400 meters last June. He will anchor the Thundering Herd in the 4x100 and 4x400.

Isaac Williams, Willingboro, senior. This Houston-bound athlete will have the Chimeras in contention in the 4x400.

Dominique Irons, Haddon Heights, junior. He went 48-4 to win the Meet of Champions triple jump last June.

Cherokee 4x800 team. Colin Merrigan, Ross Staudt, Drew Viscidy, and Shawn Wilson were second at the New Balance indoor nationals in 7:43.64 and could contend for a Championship of America title.

Cherry Hill East 4x400 team. Brad Krell, Kevin Barry, Joe Pellegrino, and Alex Reber ran 3:17.50 at the Woodbury Relays.

Oakcrest 4x100 team. The speedy squad of Steve Adkisson, Reggie Morton, Darnell Charles, and Fabian Santiago ran 42.80 at the Woodbury Relays.

Oakcrest 4x400 team. Charles, Morton, Syid Evans-White, and Akmed Muhammad ran 3:16.11 at the Woodbury Relays.


Megan Lacy, Cherokee, senior. This Stanford-bound athlete, who is slated to run in the 3,000 meters on Thursday night, placed second at the New Balance nationals in the 5K in 16:49.

Dina Iacone, Washington Township, senior. The Cornell-bound runner, who also is entered in the 3,000 meters, won the indoor Group 4 championship in the 3,200 meters in 10:43.03.

Stey'ce McNeil, Winslow Township, senior. This Mississippi State-bound athlete will be a threat in the 400-meter hurdles and will anchor the Eagles in the 4x400.

Megan Kirschling, West Deptford, senior. She could be a factor in the high jump after going 5-10 at the Woodbury Relays.

Jess Woodard, Cherokee, senior. Woodard set a meet record at the Woodbury Relays with a 149-11 in the discus.

Maria Jimenez, Vineland, junior. She set a meet record at the Woodbury Relays with a 153-6 in the javelin.
