Penn State coach Bill O'Brien agreed to an interview with the Houston Texans, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported on NFL Network's "Around the League Live."

He reported that O'Brien and the Texans agreed to an interview after Christmas, which means it might have already happened or it will happen in the near future.

O'Brien was the New England Patriots' offensive coordinator when Penn State hired him 2 years ago. His contract stipulated a $13 million NFL buyout, but that was reduced to $6.5 million in March.

Former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith already has interviewed for the Houston job. Wade Phillips, the team's interim coach following Gary Kubiak's firing, also is interested.
