Temple used double-digit scoring efforts from three players Thursday to beat Marist, 67-54, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and move to a second-round Women's NIT matchup with Penn at 2 p.m. Sunday.
Erica Covile led the way with 19 points, while also adding six boards. Tanaya Atkinson finished with 18 points and five rebounds, while sophomore Feyonda Fitzgerald had 14 points, and six rebounds.
Penn 65, Hofstra 58 - With some quality shooting from three-point range, Penn held off Hofstra on Thursday to move to 21-8 on the season and set up a Round 2 contest with Temple. Hofstra ends the year at 20-13.
Hampton 45, Drexel 42 - In a gritty, low-scoring affair, Hampton survived shooting just 29 percent from the field and advanced past the Dragons.
Ryan Jordan had 19 points and nine rebounds for the Pirates (19-12).
Jackie Schluth and Sarah Curran each had eight points. Curran also rang up 11 rebounds.
