As people continue to focus on wellness - with green shopping habits, yoga practice, mindful meditation, cardio classes - they are increasingly expressing their sense of style through workout clothes.

Not just for fashion's sake - although a pair of bun-sculpting lululemon yoga pants do look fantastic. But in the interest of time management, I need to run my errands and make a pit stop on Kelly Drive to bang out three to five miles.

"It's about being able to integrate fitness into your every day, which is the only way you will be able to stick to it," said Nadine Gelberg, president of Devigi, a Chestnut Hill-based line of gym wear designed to help women exercise accessorized. "We need to be able to go to the grocery store and drop off kids and not look like we are still in our gym clothing."

It helps that during the last few years, sports apparel technology allows us to keep sweat and stench out while holding warmth in. And now there are all of those little pockets available to hold our gear - iPods - and necessities - keys.

So with wellness on our minds and a cold wind on our backs, I want to offer my warm workout wear picks for 2013. Now you can use the winter months to improve your Broad Street run time, hike along a stream, or hit the slopes.

lululemon Brisk Runner Ear Warmers, $26, www.lululemon.com. These moisture-wicking ear warmers will protect your ears from below-freezing winds without overheating. (And they are reversible.)

iLuv ReF headphones, $129, www.iluv.com. If you need to zone out during a workout, these padded earphones are light and hold in warmth.

Gaiam Wind Sprint top, $88, www.gaiam.com. I've recently become obsessed with having a thumb hole, and this top serves as an awesome layering piece because there's a place to stash keys, phones and headphones - warmth meets practicality.

Strittens, $30, www.nomiebaby.com. These stroller mittens or "strittens" stay attached to the stroller with Velcro (until you want to wash them), giving mommies one less thing to remember when leaving the house. Hands stay warm, and pushing a little one up a hill is a more pleasant workout.

Medley Knit Poncho, $168, www.gaiam.com. A definite gym-bag staple, this cloak is fashioned from recycled yarn and is perfect to throw on for errands after a workout. Wear tights underneath, and you can hit brunch with the girls first.

lululemon reflective jacket, $298, www.lululemon.com. This fitted, maximum-visibility running jacket will keep you warm anytime and safe at night.

Cozy cable knit hat, $48, www.gaiam.com. I start to shiver after a cooldown, so this hat is great for keeping in the heat when bolting from gym to the car.

lululemon Brisk Run Gloves, $28, www.lululemon.com. Running with cold hands can be miserable. Try these gloves, which feature layers of protection and touch-screen friendliness. Two finger slots open so you can text to your heart's content.

Under Armour, ColdGear Slash Tights, $59.99, www.underarmour.com. The waistband is designed to control jiggle and keep in heat. The pop of color on the calves is Flo-Jo-worthy fun.

Darn Tough socks, $22.50, www.darntough.com. These merino wool, nylon, and spandex socks feature open-mesh knitting on the top of the foot for ultimate toe wiggle-ability, and a reinforced heel and toe.
