High school student dies during charity race

A 19-year-old Philadelphia high school student collapsed and died during yesterday's Dash for Organ Donor Awareness race in Center City, officials said.

A 19-year-old Philadelphia high school student collapsed and died during yesterday's Dash for Organ Donor Awareness race in Center City, officials said.

Fire officials said the youth, a Furness High School senior, was taken at 11:02 a.m. to Hahnemann University Hospital, where he died.

Officials said the cause of death was not known.

John Green, community relations director for the Gift of Life Donor Program, which sponsored the race, did not respond to a request for comment.
