Two fireworks shows will burst over Philadelphia on New Year's Eve, Mayor Nutter announced Monday. In addition to the traditional midnight show launched from barges on the Delaware River, an early-bird display will go off at 6 p.m. The shows will be choreographed to different soundtracks, which will be piped to speakers on Penn's Landing and Wiggins Park in Camden and broadcast on KYW-AM, Nutter said.
A grant from the sponsor, SugarHouse Casino, will make it possible to repeat the success of last year's events, organizers said. - Sam Wood
