Officer Michael Harvey, 36, of the Narcotics Strike Force Team, was injured after being dragged about 20 feet Wednesday night during a narcotics investigation, police said.
Officers were on a stakeout around 8 p.m. when they observed a passenger in a nearby car buy narcotics on Glenwood Avenue near 16th Street, North Philadelphia.
Cops said officers approached the car, identified themselves, and Harvey reached inside. As he did, the woman driver sped off, dragging Harvey until he managed to free himself.
The officer suffered back injuries, but refused treatment, said Capt. James Kelly, commanding officer of the strike force.
Police identified the driver as Marie Bush, aka Tiffany Watson, 26, of Brunner Street near Clarissa. She was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, resisting arrest, fleeing police, driving under the influence and related offenses.
She was wanted for traffic and probation violations, police said. Her unidentified passenger was charged with having marijuana.
