JFK Boulevard bridge over Schuylkill to be rebuilt
Reconstruction will begin April 9 on the John F. Kennedy Boulevard bridge over the Schuylkill, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said yesterday. Eastbound traffic will be detoured during the two-year, $18 million project. Westbound traffic will continue.

As part of the rebuilding, the 48-year-old bridge will get a wider sidewalk (21 feet, instead of the current 12) on the south side, with a stairway to the Schuylkill River Trail below.
The rebuilt bridge will have two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane. - Paul Nussbaum
