Exelon Generation is to conduct its semi-annual full-volume test of the emergency warning sirens surrounding the Limerick generating station on Monday at approximately 2 p.m, the company said.
The three-minute full-sound test is performed on the first Monday in June and December as part of Exelon's emergency preparedness program. A shorter, lower pitch test is performed monthly.
The Limerick emergency system consists of 165 sirens located in parts of Montgomery, Chester and Berks Counties within a 10-mile radius of the plant. The purpose of the sirens, the company said, is to alert residents to tune to an emergency alert broadcast station for information from Pennsylvania officials.
The emergency alert broadcast system will not be activated during Monday's test.
For questions, Montgomery County residents may call 610-631-6530. Chester County residents may call 610-344-5000, and Berks County residents may call 610-374-4800.
