Nearly $350,000 worth of diamonds were taken in a Center City theft Tuesday evening near Jewelers Row, police said.

Around 6 p.m. in the 1100 block of Sansom Street, two men took a shoulder bag containing about $348,000 in loose diamonds, police said.

The victim was described as a 44-year-old man. One suspect was described as a black man, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 170 pounds, with a beard, wearing a black hat and brown jacket. The second suspect was described only as a black man with a red jacket. - Robert Moran
