A day after six people were slain in Philadelphia, one man was killed and five others, including a police officer, were wounded Wednesday on city streets.

A 27-year-old man was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday after being shot eight times in North Philadelphia, police said.

The man was shot in the 2800 block of Huntingdon Street about 7:50 and was pronounced dead 20 minutes later at Temple University Hospital. A man was arrested and a vehicle seized at 25th and Cumberland Streets, a few blocks away, police said. The suspect's name was not immediately released.

Police did not identify the victim, who was shot four times in the chest, twice in the back, once in the left side of his face, and once on the right side of his neck, police said.

About 8:15 p.m., an 18-year-old man in the 7200 block of Limekiln Pike in West Oak Lane was shot once in the face and once in the buttocks by three unknown men wearing gray hooded sweatshirts. The victim was transported to Einstein Medical Center, where he was in critical condition. Police did not arrest anyone or recover a weapon.

Earlier, a man and a teenager were shot about 5:45 p.m. in the Powelton Village section of West Philadelphia, police said.

The shootings occurred in the 4000 block of Green Street. A 25-year-old man, shot once in the head and once in the right forearm, was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and was in critical condition.

A 16-year-old boy, shot once in the right knee and once in the right foot, was also taken to Penn Presbyterian. Police said his condition was unknown. Police were looking for two men who were last seen in a gold vehicle heading north on Preston Street from Green.

A police officer was injured in the city's Summerdale section at 1:39 p.m. while responding to a chaotic shooting scene in Frankford, authorities said.

The shooting occurred when a man allegedly fired a gun into a parked Toyota Sequoia on the 1300 block of Hunting Park Avenue. The gunman then got into a white SUV and fled through an alley, eventually ditching the vehicle at Coral and Valetta Streets, police said.

A plainclothes narcotics officer saw the shooting and called for backup, police said. One of the officers who responded was injured at Pratt Street and Roosevelt Boulevard about a minute later, police said. It was not clear what happened, but police said the officer was treated at Aria Health-Torresdale Campus. Meanwhile, the man who was shot in Frankford was found Wednesday afternoon at Aria Health-Frankford Campus with a gunshot wound to one underarm, police said.
