A Delaware County police officer who was shot seven times in June returned to work Friday.

Folcroft Officer Christopher Dorman's injuries included a gunshot to the face as he responded to a report of an alleged drug deal about 10 a.m. June 24 on the 1500 block of Elmwood Avenue.

The 25-year-old officer underwent multiple surgeries at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in Philadelphia. He was released from the hospital after three days.

"I'm not very good at sitting around, so sitting at my house watching TV was kind of boring," he told 6ABC on Friday.

No one answered the phone at the Folcroft Borough Police Department on Saturday.

In a Facebook post Friday, the department shared a photo of Delaware County Councilman Dave White shaking hands with Dorman, thanking him for his bravery and dedication, and wishing him good luck on his first day back to work.

Donte Brooks Island, now 34, was arrested in the shooting and charged with attempted murder, weapon offenses, and related charges. He remains in the Delaware County Prison and faces a Sept. 19 motions hearing.
