Police removed the body of a man this morning from the backyard pool of a Philadelphia police officer, who was off-duty at the time of the incident.

Details were few as of early this morning.

However, police believe the man, said to be in his 40s, drowned accidentally at the home on the 2000 block of Winchester Avenue in Northeast Philadelphia. Foul play is not suspected. However, police are investigating whether alcohol may have been a factor.

Police say they received a call about 11 p.m. from the off-duty officer, who lives in a two-story, single-family home on a tree-lined street. The backyard is surrounded by a white, plastic privacy fence. The body was removed about 5:30 a.m.

The incident is still under investigation.

Check back for details as they develop.
