Prisoner on crutches, in neck brace, flees hospital

A prisoner on crutches and wearing a neck brace escaped from Philadelphia police custody Tuesday afternoon at Temple University Hospital and was still on the loose late in the night.

A prisoner on crutches and wearing a neck brace escaped from Philadelphia police custody Tuesday afternoon at Temple University Hospital and was still on the loose late in the night.

Keith Freeman, 18, was not handcuffed when officers attempted to escort him to a police wagon in the hospital parking lot around 4 p.m., police said. He bolted, climbed a six-foot wall with barbed wire, and was lost in the area of 3400 North Broad Street.

Freeman, of the 2600 block of Palethorpe Street, had been in custody after being arrested at 1:22 a.m. Tuesday in Kensington after trying to flee from police during a car stop.
