Police are hunting for the suspect who got into a violent tussle with an officer in Olney early this morning that resulted in both men plummeting over a railing.

The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. on East Godfrey Avenue near Crescentville Road, police said.

Officers responding to a report of a domestic dispute involving a man with a gun found a belligerent 24-year-old man on the front porch of a home, Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters.

He refused to show his hands and fought with an officer, sending both over the railing, before sprinting off into the nearby woods, Small said.

The officer was treated at Einstein Medical Center for bruises. The suspect, who is known to police, faces assault charges.
