Twitter thinks that NRA presser was ridiculous, especially the 'Mortal Kombat' reference
On Friday morning, NRA Chief Wayne LaPierre addressed the media on the issue of gun violence as a part of the organization's response to last week's Sandy Hook massacre. LaPierre, essentially, blamed the media and video games—like Mortal Kombat—for glorifying violence and negatively influencing Americans. He then suggested that there should be an armed police officer at every school because, "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."
The press conference was interrupted (twice!) by someone protesting. One of the people had a banner that read, "NRA has blood on its hands"
Unsurprisingly, the Internet erupted with cries of, "really?!" as #NRAPresser, #MortalKombat, and #LaPierre became trending topics on Twitter. There were more than a few people who weren't exactly picking up what the NRA chief was putting down.
