Motorists using Route 202 in Chester County can expect nighttime delays as construction gets under way Sunday on a $200 million multiyear project to widen and rebuild a 6.3-mile section of the heavily travelled roadway.
PennDot spokesman Gene Blaum said that the first phase of the construction involves preliminary work to replace the Swedesford Road bridge. Lane closures on Route 202 will allow workers to install protective shields on the underside of the bridge to keep debris from falling on the highway, he said.
During the bridge replacement project, Route 202 will be down to one lane in each direction between Route 401 and Route 30 with intermittent stoppages. Swedesford Road will remain open, Blaum said.
