EAST MARLBOROUGH Following news that a nine-term state representative will not run for reelection next year, an East Marlborough Township supervisor announced this week that he would seek to represent some of Chester County in Harrisburg.

Republican Cuyler Walker, a lawyer and small-business owner, joins the race with Democrat Susan Rzucidlo to represent the 158th District. The district, which was modified in redistricting, will include East Marlborough, West Marlborough, New Garden, London Britain, Newlin, East Bradford, West Bradford, and parts of West Goshen.

"It would be an honor to serve the citizens of the 158th state House District, and I will campaign vigorously for their votes," Walker said in his announcement.

Republican Chris Ross announced last month that he would not seek reelection.

Rzucidlo, a small business owner and founder of a disability advocacy nonprofit, lost to Ross in 2012 and 2010. She said she likes her chances in 2014.

"It's always very tough to run against an incumbent," she said. "Now, it's an open seat."

The deadline to file for the race is March 11. - Michaelle Bond
