Kevin Grow to be honored for his basketball feats

LEVITTOWN The Bucks County commissioners will open their bi-monthly meeting Wednesday morning by honoring Kevin Grow, the Bensalem teenager who became a national celebrity this year for his basketball feats.

Grow, 18, who has Down syndrome, swished four three-pointers in the final minutes of a Bensalem High School basketball game this winter.

After video of that performance was picked up by TV stations and websites across the country, Grow was signed to temporary contracts by both the 76ers and the Harlem Globetrotters, joining Wilt Chamberlain as the only player in history to sign with both teams.

At Wednesday's commissioners meeting, to be held at 10 a.m. at ITT Technical Institute in Levittown, county spokesman Chris Edwards said Grow and his father will be presented with a proclamation and other items of appreciation by the three county commissioners.
