Widener to host free stargazing
CHESTER Widener University is throwing a birthday party. It will be 10 years since the school opened its observatory. To celebrate, the school is hosting a special public stargazing session from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at Kirkbride Hall on 17th and Walnut Streets.
Visitors can expect to see the night sky using a 16-inch computerized Meade Cassegrain reflecting telescope along with several smaller scopes.
Light refreshments will be served.
The event is free, but those interested are asked to register. Contact Theresa Sminkey at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 610-499-4003.
Widener offers other stargazing for the public, typically on the first Friday of every month and every Monday during the school year.
