An 11-year-old boy has been charged with making a bomb threat that led to the evacuation of his South Jersey school this week.
Egg Harbor Township police said Friday that the boy, whose name was not released, was charged with creating a false public alarm.
Officers were called to the boy's school, Alder Avenue Middle School, at about 11 a.m. Thursday after a bomb threat was reported.
The school was evacuated after the threat as police and bomb-sniffing dogs conducted a search of the building. Students were cleared to return to class after about two hours, police said.
Police said the student was arrested earlier Friday and has been released to his parents.
