A Bordentown City Department of Public Works garage in Burlington County, South Jersey, was destroyed by a fire early Saturday, authorities said.
Deputy Fire Chief John Walls of the Bordentown City Fire Department described the building as a "total loss."
The massive blaze at the city garage, at 213 Crosswicks Street, was reported at 5:22 a.m. and was put under control at about 7:30 a.m.
No one was inside the tall, one-story cinderblock building with a wood-truss roof - which housed equipment such as dump trucks and pickup trucks - at the time, Walls said.
"Everything caved in," and a machine was needed to take two walls down, he said.
Walls said the cause of the fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation by the Bordentown Township fire marshal.
