A warrant was issued yesterday for Rodney Evans, 32, who stands about 6-foot-5 and weighs about 300 pounds, charging him with the murder of boxing legend Joe Frazier's step-grandson.

Police said the killing happened about 1:18 a.m. May 31 inside Pleasures on the Ridge, a bar on the 2000 block of Ridge Avenue in North Philadelphia. Two men "pulled out handguns and began firing at each other," police said. One of the bullets struck Peter Lyde Jr., 25, who was working at the bar, in the chest. Lyde died about a half hour later at Hahnemann University Hospital.

Lyde, of North Philadelphia, was the son of Peter Lyde Sr., who is married to Frazier's daughter, Municipal Court Judge Jacqui Frazier-Lyde. Frazier-Lyde had helped raise Lyde since he was a child, a family spokeswoman said.

Evans' last known address was in the 5500 block of Ludlow Street in Southwest Philadelphia, according to police. He should be considered armed and dangerous, police said. Anyone with information regarding the offender is asked to call the Homicide Unit Fugitive Squad at 215-686-3068 or 215-686-3084. - Peter Mucha and Zoe Tillman
