Principal in Delco removed during federal probe

A Delaware County middle school principal was placed on leave Friday after the Rose Tree Media School District was told he was under federal investigation.

Troy Czukoski was removed from his post at the Springton Lake Middle School pending the outcome of the probe, Superintendent James Wigo Sr. said. Parents were informed of the decision via a recorded message.

Wigo said the district was alerted to the investigation by a "courtesy call" from the U.S. Postal Service. Wigo said he had no information about the nature of the allegations. "We have no idea," he said. "I know there is an ongoing investigation. We are reacting to facts that we don't have."

Czukoski agreed to the leave to avoid "distractions and upset in the community," said his attorney, Joseph Green, and "is looking forward to vindicating his good name." - Anthony R. Wood
