A Philadelphia police officer was involved in a shooting that left another man hospitalized Sunday night, according to authorities.

A Philadelphia police officer was involved in a shooting that left another man hospitalized Sunday night, according to authorities.

At 8:11 p.m., an officer was flagged down by a taxi driver having a problem with a customer near 1500 Arrott Street in the Frankford section of the city. The customer ran from the scene with the officer in pursuit. The fleeing man pulled a gun on the officer, who fired and hit him in the torso, police said.

The man was taken to Temple University Hospital and no information on his condition was available, police said. The taxi driver was not injured, according to police. - Mari A. Schaefer
