Christiana Quinton converted a pair of free throws late in overtime to help Palmyra hold off host Pitman, 51-47, Saturday in the girls' basketball semifinals of the Tournament of Peace.

Quinton finished with eight points while Alexis Powell (14 points), Kasandra Laws (13), and Aubrie Babb (10) provided the bulk of the Pals' scoring. Michelle Stafford tossed in a game-high 20 points - including the tying three-point basket at the regulation buzzer - for Pitman.

Woodstown's tandem of Sarah Hepler (19 points) and Tori Smick (13) overcame the 23-point effort by Overbrook's Michele Foster, leading the Wolverines to a 57-41 win in the other semifinal.

Eastern States. Senior center Tiffany Turner posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and played lock-down defense, helping to limit Penn Charter star Brianna Butler to seven points, sending Cherokee to a 53-40 victory in the opening round of the invitational at Trenton Catholic.

Monica Roeder had a game-high 17 points and Courtney Escudero scored 14 for the Chiefs.

Queen-Tiye Jackson's 20 points led three scorers in double figures as host Trenton Catholic trounced Plainfield, 59-24.

Boardwalk Classic. Ashley Giedemann grabbed eight rebounds to go with a game-high 20 points, and Washington Township used a 14-3 run to erase a third-quarter deficit as it defeated Lower Moreland (Pa.), 38-29, in a Bracket B semifinal at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

The Minutemaids will face Methacton (Pa.) in today's title game.

Boys' Basketball

Kenneth Armstead capped his 11-point effort with a basket in the final minute that gave Vineland the lead for good in a 41-39 victory over Middle Township in the Bracket B semifinals of the Boardwalk Classic at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

Winslow Township knocked off Holy Cross, 42-27, in the other semifinal behind the scoring of Michael Simpson (17 points) and Shawn Valentine (13).
