Last MLS match: Seattle earned a 1-0 win at Colorado on April 20. The Union lost, 2-0, at New England last Saturday.

About the Sounders: Eddie Johnson, who scored 14 goals last season, has just one MLS goal this year. Johnson has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, but is expected to be available. . . . A perennial playoff contender, Seattle entered the weekend last in the Western Conference, but the Sounders had played the fewest games in MLS and will be expected to seriously contend for one of the five Western Conference playoff spots.

About the Union: Jack McInerney entered the weekend tied for the MLS lead in goals with six. . . . Even though the Union lost last week, team manager John Hackworth lauded the play of keeper Zac MacMath, who he said kept them in the game. . . . Hackworth says the team's collective health is excellent. . . . The Union are 2-2-1 lifetime against the Sounders. . . . The Union have allowed four goals in the last two games and the opponents, D.C. United and New England, had each only scored two goals entering the game with the Union.
