Penn wins Ivy softball title and berth in NCAA tournament

The Penn softball team (30-18, 16-4 Ivy) clinched a berth in the NCAA tournament Sunday afternoon as the host Quakers won the Ivy League title with a 3-2 victory over Dartmouth.

Baseball. Rowan (32-12) defeated Ramapo, 5-3, for the NJAC title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. Steven Melchiorre (Hammonton) notched the win, going eight innings and striking out 10.

Women's lacrosse. Host Gettysburg (18-1) beat Franklin and Marshall, 14-11, to claim its league-record eighth Centennial Conference title.

Freshman goalie Lindsay Clinton (Boyertown) made nine saves.

For the seventh straight season, Penn will compete for a national title after earning an automatic berth to the NCAA tournament with the Ivy League crown. The Quakers will play Virginia at Georgetown on Friday. A win would earn them a game with the No. 6 Hoyas in the second round.
