4 area teams in playoffs

West Chester, Widener, Delaware Valley and Rowan will begin postseason play on Saturday.

FOUR AREA college-football teams will be in action on Saturday when the NCAA Division II and III playoffs commence.

West Chester (10-1), in the D-II Top 25 throughout most of the season, will host Slippery Rock (9-2) at noon. The winner of that game will travel to Athens, W.V., to face Concord (11-0) on Nov. 29.

The Division II championship game will be held in Kansas City, Kan., on Saturday, Dec. 20 at 4 p.m.

In Division III, Widener (10-0) hosts Muhlenberg (9-1), Delaware Valley (9-1) will entertain Christopher Newport and Rowan (7-3) heads to unbeaten Johns Hopkins (10-0). All three games are slated for noon. The winners will move on to play the following weekend.

The Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, the Division III championship game, will be played on Friday, Dec. 19 at 7 p.m. in Salem, Va.
