Former Temple shooting guard Aaron Brown has transferred to Southern Mississippi.
Brown made his decision Wednesday after visiting the Golden Eagles' Hattiesburg, Miss., campus, and he signed his scholarship papers.
The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder will sit out next season because of NCAA transfer requirements before having two seasons of eligibility remaining.
"I feel like it's the best place for me," the Hackensack, N.J., resident said of Southern Miss. "I love the coaching staff. [Conference USA] is a good conference and Southern Miss is a winning program."
The St. Benedict's Prep (N.J.) product plans to enroll for summer classes at Southern Miss in July. He asked for and was granted his release from Temple on April 14.
As a sophomore this past season, Brown ranked second on the team in three-point shooting at 41.5 percent, but he averaged just 6.4 points and 14.6 minutes.
He made 9 of 15 three-point shots during back-to-back games against Central Michigan and Toledo in December.
Brown played in every game and started the season opener at Penn. His role and minutes diminished as the season wore on.
