Temple senior Amber Youtz has been named a first-team all-American by the Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Youtz, a second-team all-American last year, became the first to earn first-team recognition at Temple in 22 years.

Toni Byard-Jenkins, a Temple Athletics Hall-of-Famer, was the last field hockey player to earn first-team all-American honors in 1992.

Youtz finished second in the nation in goals (27) and points per game (2.9). Her 69 career goals rank third all-time at Temple.

Youtz finished her career with eight hat tricks, including four this season as the Owls finished 14-7.

Local Terp honored. Three members of the Maryland field hockey team earned all-America honors. Senior Maxine Fluharty and junior Sarah Sprink were named to the first team. Senior Katie Gerzabek (Notre Dame Academy) was named to the third team.
