Running back Kyle Wright, of Ben Lippen High in Columbia, S.C., has decommitted from Temple. Wright announced his decision Friday on Twitter.

Wright is teammates with another Temple commit, quarterback Trad Beatty. Contacted Saturday, Beatty said in a phone interview that he is totally committed to Temple. He says since making his commitment on June 20, he has shut down his recruitment.

"I tried to shut my recruitment down and felt Temple is the place," said Beatty, who will enroll in school in January. "Since then I have been just focusing on my high school season."

Beatty, who had a Mississippi State offer, is considered one of the top players in Temple's 2018 recruiting class.

As for Wright's decision, Beatty said, "It is definitely tough for me because Kyle and I are very close outside of football but I understand his decision. He has to do what is best for him and maybe if something leads him back to Temple, that is great. He wants to see other places."

Temple has 19 commitments for the class of 2018. This year there is a new early signing period, from Dec. 20-22. Per NCAA rules, college coaches are unable to comment on a recruit until that player signs a letter of intent.
