You Talkin' to Me? 'Lost' plot pales in comparison to Flyers' playoff run

From: Fox, Ashley To: Gonzalez, John; Fitzpatrick, Frank Re: Lost Incredibly, the Flyers are four wins away from hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup. Their series with the Blackhawks starts Saturday in Chicago. This team has been on a remarkable journey. It needed a shoot-out to make the playoffs. Came back from a three-games-to-none series deficit against Boston and a 3-0 hole in Game 7. It changed goalies mid-run. And crushed Montreal.

Has there been a more dramatic postseason run in Philadelphia sports history? And will your opinion change if the Flyers don't win it all?

Re: Lost

It's been an unbelievable run for the Flyers. This might be their best shot to win the Cup since they won their last one in the '70s. If they don't take it home, they've still had a terrific year. After being up and down during the regular season, they've redeemed themselves.

Re: Lost

What kind of league has a conference final between seventh and eighth seeds? All this does is add an exclamation point to the notion that the NHL's regular season is more meaningless than Lost.

Re: Lost

I never understood the Lost infatuation. I watched a couple of episodes a few years back, and they were frustrating, impossible to understand, and unsatisfying. Kind of like Talkin'. But I'm in the minority. I also don't watch Dancing With the Stars, American Idol, or any of those other unrealistic shows.

Re: Lost

Lost seemed to me to be complexity for the sake of complexity. Then again, my kids loved it, further proof that I am an out-of-touch fogey. I wasn't always this way. I once loved the Flyers. It just seems to me that the organization's corporate style evolved into Ayn Rand on steroids - arrogant, compassionless, bullying.

Re: Lost

Stop talking about Lost. I still haven't seen the finale. If you ruin it for me, I'll hunt you down.

Re: Lost

I'd gladly ruin it for you as repayment for your Dexter giveaway, but I have no idea what the hell happened.

Re: Lost

Not the same thing. The last season of Dexter ended almost a year ago. Lost ended the other night. You have to give me at least a week before you spoil it.

Re: Lost

I've got to side with John on this one, Fitzy. You were way behind the Dexter curve.

Re: Lost

But factor in the age/pop-culture differential and technically I shouldn't have discovered Dexter until 2034.

I'm saving this Talkin'. First time anyone has ever agreed with me in the 20-month history of this thing.

Don't get used to it.
