Kelly Culp did not play for Central Bucks South in Thursday's PIAA state Class AAAA softball quarterfinal tournament game against Hazleton, but she was a key factor in the Titans' 7-1 win.
With no score in the fifth inning, Hazleton had a runner on third base who apparently scored on a sacrifice fly to C.B. South rightfielder Shana Steigerwalt.
But from the bench, Culp alerted her coaches that the runner failed to tag up, and the runner was called out on an appeal to end the inning and keep the game scoreless.
Central Bucks South came back and scored five runs in the sixth to take control of the contest and move into Monday's state semifinals against Governor Mifflin. Mifflin ousted Coatesville, 3-2, at Lancaster's Garrett Park.
In the sixth, Haileigh Stocks poked a leadoff single and Morgan Becker hit a two-run homer over the 240-foot mark on the fence in right-center field.
Dani London added a pair of runs batted in, and Lauren Klepchick and Taylre Stocks also drove in runs.

Kukoda provided a highlight in East's final game of the season when the centerfielder threw out runners at the plate on back-to-back plays in the fourth inning.
