Comm Tech’s Ransom wins Weaver’s tickets

Communications Tech junior Rolando Ransom has been selected as this week's Leonard Weaver/Daily News award winner.

Communications Tech junior Rolando Ransom has been selected as this week's Leonard Weaver/Daily News award winner.

Ransom will attend Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys at Lincoln Financial Field.

Weaver is giving his two game tickets for each Eagles home game this season to local high school football players who excel on and off the field and show great character. Nominees were submitted to the Daily News and the final selection was made by Weaver.

"He plays running back and linebacker," Communications Tech coach John Gossett said. "He's a leader on and off the field.

"He was a captain on the varsity in the ninth grade on the first Public League team to win a state playoff game."

Ransom is 5-8, 175 pounds. His exploits begin in the classroom.

"He is currently the student of the month for juniors at Communications Tech," Gossett said. "He has a 90 percent grade-point average in all of his classes and he has perfect attendance in school."

Winners will attend the game with an adult chaperone (it must be a parent, guardian or coach). Ransom will meet Weaver before the game and will receive two pregame sideline passes, courtesy of the Eagles.

The third-year program was the brainchild of former Eagles safety Brian Dawkins, and was taken over last year by Donovan McNabb. *
