Aubrey Blewett struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh inning to put the finishing touch on Archbishop Carroll's nonleague softball win over Blewett's former team on Wednesday. The Patriots topped Upper Darby, 10-6.

Blewett transferred from Upper Darby (7-4) to Carroll in 2011 and haunted the Royals by striking out six in seven innings and driving in two runs.

Also for Carroll (9-2), Shannon DeFusco tripled and homered for three RBIs, Lizzie Citrone had two hits and two RBIs, and second baseman Carla D'Angelo helped on two double plays and knocked in two runs.

In other nonleague action, Germantown Academy shortstop Elisa Novak hit for the cycle and drove in four runs in a 22-12 win over visiting Mount St. Joseph.

Ches-Mont. West Chester Rustin surprised visiting American Division leader Sun Valley, 6-3, as Anna Steinmetz provided two singles and a two-run triple in support of pitcher Mere Katona.

After giving up two first-inning runs, Bishop Shanahan's Kate Poppe blanked visiting Downingtown East the rest of the way as Shanahan rebounded from its first loss with a 5-2 win. Poppe struck out 10.

Jill Freese belted a two-run homer in the fifth inning and capped a 10-run sixth with a grand slam, ending Oxford's 14-1 win over visiting Great Valley.

Central. Haverford High pitcher Bridget Newman hit a game-winning two-run homer in the sixth and scattered four hits to lead a 2-1 win at Penncrest.

Springfield (Delco) edged visiting Conestoga, 5-4, when Nikki Casasanto raced home on a bases-loaded error in the bottom of the seventh inning, giving freshman pitcher Courtney Scarpato her first varsity win.

Pioneer Athletic. Spring-Ford leadoff hitter Cassie Alexy had two hits and drove in three runs during a 3-0 win over visiting Pottsgrove. Haleigh Williams threw the two-hit shutout.

Boyertown's 8-3 win at Phoenixville included Sara Keeny's three hits and two runs scored, and Wynne McCann's single, triple and two RBIs.

Suburban One. Norristown's Brianna Kennedy fashioned a 13-0, three-hit shutout against visiting Plymouth Whitemarsh, backed by two RBIs each from Gina Pellechio and Monica Levins.

Bicentennial. Christopher Dock's 10-0 win over visiting Plumstead Christian was a perfect five-inning game by senior Keli Krause, who fanned 12 of 15 batters. Kraise also doubled twice.

Public. Shannon Grant's sacrifice fly plated Ali Russo with the decisive run in Prep Charter's 10-9 victory over visiting Northeast. Lauren Esposito knocked in two runs.


Becky Gilligan's fifth goal of the game came in the final minute of the second overtime period, lifting Perkiomen Valley to a 13-12 nonleague triumph at Exeter.

The Vikings scored three of the last four goals in regulation, capped by Natalie Marsh's tying goal with 39 seconds remaining.

George School sophomore Taylor Campellone struck for a career-best five goals during a 17-6 win at Lower Moreland.

Friends Schools. Becca Dahle, a senior at Friends' Central, reached 300 career points in an 18-6 victory over visiting Academy of the New Church. Dahle, who will attend Brown, had a goal and nine assists in the game, and has career totals of 134 goals and 170 assists.

Suburban One. Kayla Wisniewski's four goals and Jordan Dunacusky's 15 saves in goal helped Plymouth Whitemarsh squeeze past host Upper Moreland, 12-10.


Washington goalie Megan Wajda made a save before giving way to Melissa Mata (six saves) and moving into the field, where she scored four goals in an 8-1 Public League triumph over visiting Bodine.
