Archbishop Carroll and La Salle punched their tickets to the PIAA state tennis tournament next week by winning District 12 championships at the Arthur Ashe Center on Friday.
Carroll won the District 12 Class AA trophy for the second straight year and third time in the last four springs by topping Public League champ Masterman, 4-1.
The Patriots' doubles teams of Nick Holder and James Rugh and Dominick Giuffrida and Peter Scheuerman combined to lose just two games in straight-set wins, and Carroll also got victories from Dan Germani at second singles and Donald McMonagle at third singles.
La Salle will face District 1 runner-up Unionville in the first round of the Class AAA state tournament after blanking Central, 5-0. Pete DeWitt (second singles) and R. J. Napolitano (third singles) each won by 6-0, 6-0.

Public. Franklin Towne Charter opened the league's Class AAA playoffs with a 10-0, five-inning no-hitter thrown by Tim Hart. Hart got every out by strikeout, piling up 15 with just one walk, and Chris Hartman had a two-run triple.
Swenson advanced with a 4-3 win over visiting Ben Franklin as Mike Amodei fanned 13 Electrons. In the three-run fifth inning, Josh Durkin's two-run single tied the game and Durkin scored the winning run on John Fox's hit.
