S. Jersey Girls: S.J. girls: Eastern cruises past Bishop Eustace in lacrosse

Lacrosse OLYMPIC CONFERENCE Eastern 13, Bishop Eustace 7: University of Cincinnati recruit Samantha Mlkvy, who missed the 2014 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, netted five goals and had two assists in her second game back to lead the Vikings on the road. Eastern, after reaching the South Jersey Group 4 quarterfinals in the 2014 season, improved to 2-0.

OLYMPIC CONFERENCE

Eastern 13, Bishop Eustace 7: University of Cincinnati recruit Samantha Mlkvy, who missed the 2014 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament, netted five goals and had two assists in her second game back to lead the Vikings on the road. Eastern, after reaching the South Jersey Group 4 quarterfinals in the 2014 season, improved to 2-0.

Stony Brook-bound Kaela Sierra and Austyn Cuneo each recorded a hat trick. Jenna Carnival and Dana Trevito scored a goal apiece to round out the scoring for the Vikings.

Kristen Biche scored three goals for Bishop Eustace.

Collingswood 12, Woodstown 11: Jane Hatzell scored five times for the host Panthers, including the game-winner with a minute to play, helping erase a two-score deficit late in the game. Molly O'Neill tacked on three more scores, Madison Downing had two goals and an assist, and Alecia Schlichting scored two goals for Collingswood. Caroline Woodside led Woodstown with four goals.

West Deptford 16, Kingsway 8: Samantha Budd, a Rutgers recruit, scored five goals to give the Eagles the edge at home. The future Scarlet Knight also recorded two assists in the contest.    Christina Petito added on three scores; Samantha Souder, Tricia Baud, and Cara Spector both scored twice; and Heather Ward and Brianna Austin closed out the scoring with a goal each for West Deptford. The win gave the Eagles, last year's South Jersey Group 2 runner-up, a 1-0 start to the season.

For Kingsway, Julia Davidson, Alex Disiacio, and Allie Keene each scored twice.

CAPE-ATLANTIC LEAGUE

Absegami 16, Our Lady of Mercy 1: Mary Riggs scored a game-high five goals, and the Braves scored 14 times in the first half to cruise to a home victory. Naiomi Earl added a hat trick, and Deanna Sewell and Eva Sodaitis both scored two goals. Sarah Buckley had the goal for Our Lady of Mercy.

NONLEAGUE

Sterling 11, Mainland 10: Erin Green scored a career-high nine goals to help the Silver Knights fend off the visiting Mustangs after trailing by two scores at the half. Green scored all five of Sterling's first-half goals. Emily Kriebel and Brianna Manko each added a goal to round out the scoring.

Mainland's Meghan Bozzi led her team with four scores, and Ashley Albright netted three.

Holy Cross 14, Cherry Hill East 9: Savanah Haran led the way at home with three goals for the Lancers, giving them a 1-0 start after reaching the South Jersey Group 1 quarterfinals last season. Six other players scored for the hosts, including Kelly Campbell, Brooke Caruso, Mary Kate Clothier, Erin McCue, and Mary Schmid, all with two goals each, and Ashley Scharadin with a single score. Schmid also had two assists and Scharadin one in the effort.

Kelsey Gorman, Priya Kavuru, Nicole Zaso, and Lauren Zolter each scored twice for Cherry Hill East.
