Sat. Pa. boys' roundup: C.B. East, Conestoga set up semifinal rematch

Two District 1 boys' lacrosse teams stayed alive and advanced to the semifinals of the PIAA state tournament with quarterfinal victories on Saturday.

Central Bucks East (22-2) avenged a 10-6 loss suffered in the first game of the season with a 9-6 success against Allentown Central Catholic (19-5) at Governor Mifflin.

The District 1 runner-up Patriots got goals from six players, including two each by Connor McSherry, Parker Self, and Ryan Whitney, who also had an assist.

East goalie Harrison Holak turned aside 11 shots while anchoring the defense.

The Patriots, runner-up to Conestoga in District 1, are headed for a semifinal rematch with the Pioneers after Conestoga (23-1) dispatched Hempfield, 16-2, in the other quarterfinal at Spring-Ford.

Brad Lord's five goals topped a list of 11 Pioneers who scored goals.

Goalies John Lopes, Robbie Zonino and Broderick Shea combined for two saves, and Connor Frisina had three assists.
