The Hawks scored eight runs in the inning, including Shane Williams' RBI single and Chase Standen's two-run triple. Colin Cunningham earned the win, allowing three unearned runs in six innings.
St. Joseph's Prep next will play La Salle at 1 p.m. Saturday at Widener University. A Prep win would force a second game in the double-elimination tournament, and a La Salle win would clinch the title. The Hawks last won a title in 2008, and La Salle last won in 2005.
Softball
Abby Butler pitched a complete game, and Delco Christian eased past visiting Morrisville, 7-1, in the District 1 Class A quarterfinals.
The senior righthander struck out 11 and went 3 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI, and a run scored. Tab Muholland, a junior left fielder, went 3 for 3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Public. Jennifer Daly played on the first softball team in the history of Franklin Towne Charter, and on Thursday, she coached the program to its first Public League title with a 10-7 win over Girls High.
Deanna Robinson went 4 for 4 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs.
Daly, the fourth-year coach, was a student when the school opened in 2001.
Volleyball
Washington won its third straight Public League title with a 3-0 win Thursday over Masterman at Southern. The Eagles finished 13-0 and did not lose a set all season.
